Scoala Gimnaziala Curtea
Scoala Gimnaziala Curtea is a local entity school of regional importance, with about 200 students and 19 teachers attending it. The school has students from pre-primary level( from age 3) until lower secondary( 15 years old students). The teachers working at school are all qualified and they are communting from the neighbouring villages and towns. Only about 5 % of them are living locally. The school is old, more than 100 years old and right now it comprises some classes and laboratories ( chemistry lab, info lab, biology lab and foreign languages lab). Scoala Gimnaziala Curtea is situated in the western part of Romania, in Timis county, near the Hungarian border. There is no industry in the area, so the prospects for economical development are not good. Many of the students parents are away for work, either abroad or in bigger cities, leaving the children attending our school to deal with this familial breakdown. Many of the students and students families come from Roma background ( about 20% of the school students). Many of them live in monoparental families and some of them are in the care of their grandparents or other relatives. The area is economically disadvantaged so one of the best things in education for us is to get involved in a project with international partners. Our school had no previous international projects, but we are willing to get involved in this one and give all of our hearts in the development and implementation of our first successful project.
